1. Taj Mahal, Agra :

Taj Mahal also referred to as “The Crown of Palace” is situated on the south bank of the river Yamuna at Agra. It was built in 1632 by the Mughal emperor, Shah Jahan, to house the tomb of his wife, Mumtaz Mahal. It took around 22 years to complete this structure that is considered one of the most famous historical places in India and also one of the seven wonders of the World.



2. Red Fort, Delhi :

Red Fort is a historic fort in Delhi and also one of the famous historic tourist places in India. It was once, the main residence of the emperors of the Mughal dynasty for near about 200 years, until 1857. It was constructed when Shah Jahan shifted the capital from Agra to Delhi and at that time it was known as the Qila-e-Mubarak. This fort is one of the most famous historical places in north India.

It was abundant due to shortage of water. It is one of the best preserved examples of Mughal architecture in India.


5. Humayun’s Tomb, New Delhi :

Humayun’s Tomb is the tomb of the Mughal Emperor Humayun in Delhi.It was commissioned by Humayun's first wife Bega Begum in 1569-70, and designed by a Persian architect, Mirak Mirza Ghiyas chosen by her. It was the first garden-tomb on the Indian subcontinent. The Arched alcoves, beautiful domes, corridors and kiosks makes this monument a grandeur of Indian architecture. A barber’s tomb is also there at the southwestern side of the main tomb.

7. Khajuraho Temples, Madhya Pradesh :

Khajuraho Temples also known as Khajuraho group of monuments is a group of Hindu and Jain temples in Madhya Pradesh. It is about 175 kilometres southeast of Jhansi.These temples were built between 950 and 1050 by the Chandela dynasty. These temples are known for their erotic sculptures.They show a celebration of love, life and worship. These temples are now a UNESCO World Heritage Site.



8. Konark Temple, Odisha :

Konark Temple also called Konark Sun Temple is a 13th-century Sun Temple at Konark.It is about 35 kilometres northeast from Puri on the coastline of Odisha. This temple is attributed to king Narasimhadeva. It is one of the most popular visited historical site. An interesting fact about the Temple is the entrance of the temple where two lions are shown crushing elephants and also a  human body lying at the foot of the elephant.
